Adam Young was born and raised in Owatonna, Minnesota.

Young is a devout Christian, though his denominational preference remains unclear. I would speculate that he’s among the many midwestern Americans who subscribes to a non-denominational, Protestant-inspired Christian faith. Nevertheless, Young admits to reading the Bible every day1 and he has recorded and performed his own versions of classic Christian songs.2

Still, Young isn’t keen on being called a Christian artist, even though his album’s liner notes thank Jesus, as Young says, ‘to whom I owe everything.’3 But he’s OK with the fact that his Christianity is apparent to anyone who bothers to notice:

I never want to come out and preach or anything. I don’t have a big speech that I give on stage or anything. It’s part of who I am. If people read about it and attach it to me, that’s fine, because it’s accurate.4

And when asked, Young won’t shy away from offering advice to his Christian fans who might be considering giving up their faith:

Stay in the Word. The moment you start letting go of that, you’re on the road to compromise. Stay grounded, remain pure, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.5

Mayor of Owl City

Young appears to be utterly and completely non-political. In the vast landscape of the interwebs, Young makes no mention of Obama, Romney, politics in general, Republicans or Democrats. There are, however, rumors that he’s “homophobic”6 and on his Twitter feed, Young mentions that he’d like to test his shotguns, but can’t because his elderly neighbors are light sleepers.7 But these are just rumors and jokes. Let’s not go jumping to conclusions.

Clearly, he’s quite Christian and he does hail from the state of Michele Bachmann, so taking an extremely wild guess that he’s more conservative might, just might be justified.
