In her Instagram story, expressing her view on DaBaby’s HIV comments
I’m surprised and horrified at DaBaby’s comments. I really don’t recognize this as the person I worked with. I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV and Aids.

At the Attitude Awards
Some of us have been fortunate to spend some precious time with loved ones but for some in the LGBTQ community the impact has been much more profound. That might be the case for young people who are getting to grips with their sexuality and making life-changing decisions about when and how to come out. A lot of my LGBTQ friends have talked to me about what a vulnerable time this was for them and how they relied on the support of their friends to get them through which was particularly important if they didn’t feel like they had the support at home.

In an interview with Attitude Magazine
I have a massive group of friends and [members of] my team who are part of the LGBTQ community, who have inspired me so much and taught me so much – they’re all my role models in life. […] To be able to use my platform to spread awareness, show support, talk about it, to make people feel seen, heard and safe, [to] communicate with charities and try to do my part as much as I can… I see that as my duty.

On her Instagram
To mark the end of Pride, I did an interview on the Today Show this morning about why I support The Trevor Project. The reasons behind my support for this amazing organisation didn’t make it to the final edit which was upsetting to me as I thought it was very important for everyone to truly know about the lifesaving service The Trevor Project provides. So I am sharing the reasons for my support for them here. Getting to grips with your sexuality as a young person can be daunting under any circumstances and for some LGTBQ+ youth it can be a period of real trauma. It can be a very vulnerable time to go through and the sad fact is that some don’t survive it. The Trevor Project provides 24/7 crisis support in the US through phone, chat and text services.

June is Pride month for the LGBTQ community. We must come together to secure the safety of black LGBTQ people in jail and immigration detention. With 1 in 2 transgender prisoners sexually abused it is incredibly important to get them released as quick as possible.

In a tweet, talking about fans ejected from her concert because of waving LGBT flags
I will stand by you all for your love and beliefs and I am proud and grateful that you felt safe enough to show your pride at my show. What you did takes a lot of bravery. I always want my music to bring strength, hope and unity. I was horrified by what happened and I send love to all my fans involved.
