I personally, as a Black Iranian, do not support Trump or the administration partly because his policy changes deeply affect me and my family and some of the people I know around me. I know if I’m affected, there are people who are affected ten times worse than I am. I’ve heard stories of Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids happening. It’s just such a scary time especially coming from the dream that was the Obama administration. Because whether you agreed with his polices or not, there was such decorum.

Kids should be worried about losing teeth. Kids should be worried about going into the next grade at school. Kids should be worried about conquering the monkey bars. Kids should NOT have to worry about when they will see their families again. Kids should NOT have to worry about coming home to an empty home. Kids should NOT have to worry about the discriminatory practices and policies that mean that their families will never be at home in the world. What happened in Mississippi should not be normalized/ It should be a catalyst for action.

How dare you kill my family //I’ve been at a loss for words in light of the tragic loss of life in El Paso and Dayton. All I can say is: HOW DARE YOU KILL MY FAMILY// we must continue to hold our elected officials accountable, we must hold each other accountable to carry with us and live in the legacies of everyone who is no longer with us // we must reinstate a sense of care by disassembling the white supremacy that has been allowed to run rampant in the USA since our inception

Being multicultural is something that I’ve always been proud of, but realizing that the same culture that I’m so proud of is the same culture that was banned by this administration is something that is always to be grappled with.

We should all feel deserved and supported in expressing our right to being our whole selves, limited by nothing regardless of ethnicity, gender, identity, sexuality, ability, religion or any other identity that we choose.[…] It is dangerous to promote an identity blind narrative. […] We must not separate ourselves from each community. We must be one.

My passion really stemmed from having gone through the 2016 election, where myself and many of my peers were unable to vote. A lot of them went with their parents to the polls, but there was that feeling of being lost. Like, ‘What can we do to contribute to our sociopolitical landscape?’[…] The thing people don’t fully understand about my generation is just how multifaceted we are. Oftentimes, people like to oversimplify what [we] believe in or do, whether that’s, ‘Oh, you’re on your phones all the time,’ or, ‘Oh, you’re very self-centered,’ but what I’ve seen from my peers is that we’re socially engaged and curious about the world.

“When a gun has more rights than you” ⚡️ Today I stand in reverence of the students who’ve experienced such personal tragedy and have used their voices to unite. To take action. Today we join them and March For Our Lives. Today we reclaim our right to safety⚡️ Hope you can join and support in any way possible @marchforourlives #EnoughisEnough

To not even have the guarantee of safety in our own spaces, our own homes, speaks to the no longer quietly insidious racism and blatant abuse of power in our criminal justice system. #blacklivesmatter stephonclark
