Today, on his birthday, I’m wondering what Martin Luther King would think about our society’s progress with civil rights… I’m sensing he’d wear a grimace. Not a very happy birthday. The current drive by legislators in several states to restrict voting isn’t even subtle racism - it’s blatant. It reminded me of a quote by President Lyndon Johnson, that I learned when preparing to portray him in a Broadway play. LBJ was the architect of the voting rights act of 1965 that made it easier - not harder for all people to vote… and isn’t that what democracy means, encouraging all citizens to participate in their government? […] We’ve got a long way to go, but Dr. King was not one to give up, and neither should we. Have a nice day. Be kind. Stay well. BC #PassVotingRightsNow #MLK #MLKDAY

I was just arrested for demanding the Biden Administration and the Senate to use their mandate to protect voting rights. Stand with me and @peoplefor and tell the Senate and White House that voting rights shouldn’t depend on where you live. #DontMuteOurVote

The real losers of voter suppression are our democracy and the people who live in it. Text UNRIG to 21333 to make sure your Senator knows you want to see the #ForThePeopleAct passed NOW. http://yesforthepeople.com/hamillhimself

John and I are outraged to see and hear the horror stories of immigrant families seeking asylum and refuge in America being ripped apart due to the inhumane policies of the Trump administration. These actions are cruel, anti-family and go against everything we believe this country should represent. The ACLU is committed to defending the rights and humanity of these vulnerable families. In addition to fighting for immigrants’ rights, they’re advocating for reproductive rights, voting rights, criminal justice reform, LGBT rights, 1st amendment rights and holding the Trump administration accountable whenever possible. [...] Each member of our family donated $72,000 to the ACLU.
