Kansas has voted against a proposed constitutional amendment that would've empowered politicians to completely ban abortions, without any exceptions. This is a monumental decision and historic victory for not only Kansas, but for our constitutional freedom and democracy.

Of course, wealthy people will always be able to get abortions. But so many people, because of this ruling this week, will not only not be able to pursue their dreams, but actually lose their lives and be unsafe and I just wanted to say that…f**k the Supreme Court.
In an interview with Vogue
This is having a very real impact on women’s bodies and lives starting now. Women are already sharing stories of how their physical safety is being put in danger. Women with resources will travel to get an abortion, those without might attempt to give themselves one at tremendous risk. Some will have to source abortion pills from unregulated pharmacies. Others who are pregnant and find themselves in a medical emergency will be at the mercy of doctors and lawyers to determine if a procedure that is needed to save her life can even be done at all. What does this tell women? It tells us that our physical safety doesn’t matter, and as a result that we don’t matter. But we do. Women matter. And this is one of the reasons that I called Gloria immediately. Because in all of it, she reminds me that when you have anger, you have to channel that energy into something that makes a difference. That’s what activism is. It’s about how we show up.

Six radical Supreme Court Justices have overturned nearly 50 years of precedent, stripping away the constitutional right to an abortion. After decades of scheming, Republican politicians have finally forced their unpopular agenda on the rest of America. They have decided that the government—not the person who is pregnant—should make a private health care decision and deny women the right to control their own bodies and futures. But these extremists will not have the final word. Democrats have tools to fight back, from legislation in Congress to executive orders from the President to initiatives at the state and local level—we just need to use them. We are angry—angry and determined. We will not go back. Not now. Not ever.

I’m past disgusted w/ my country and their constant inability to protect one another’s right & keep their word. How u overturning the wrong things? So many things to overturn that make sense. But this is what you chose??

There’s a lot of people who are taking the right steps to try and make positive things [happen], and I think obviously people who don’t like that are kind of clawing to grapple back any ground that they feel like they’ve lost, which never belonged to them in the first place. I don’t think anyone should be able to make decisions about anyone else’s body. […] I don’t really know where that ends. Someone needs an operation and someone can decide that they can’t have it? It makes no sense to me. It’s just so backwards… It’s quite scary to see how far backwards we’re going in a lot of ways. […] There should be backlash and uproar for these things.

Women must have control over what happens to their bodies, and the re-litigation of our rights must end. The insulting, demeaning, negating struggle is not over, and neither is our obligation to do everything we can to protect those whose wounds are deepest in this fight.

#RoeVWade has been settled law, guaranteed by the Constitution for 50 years; the 14th Amendment to the document that is the foundation of our country’s laws. If they strike down this amendment, what is to stop them striking down others that conservatives don’t agree with?

Those motherf*****s really did it. First they came for Black voters, then they targeted LGBTQ+ families. Now, women of America, they’re overruling Roe v. Wade. We have to unite and strike back. Take to the streets. Overwhelm them at the ballot box. They have gone too damn far.
In a talk with radio personality Angela Yee at the yearly mixed media festival in Austin
We got a lot of other things y’all need to be handling instead of y’all being in people’s homes telling them what to do with they body and being all up in they uterus…Because the abortion ban is atrocious as well. Mind your business. Stay out of my body. This is not political. This is not political.

I used two types of contraception, they both failed, and I aborted at 8 weeks. I was mentally/physically/emotionally and financially unstable and most importantly DID NOT WANT A CHILD. That should be enough. My life matters more than an unborn human. [...] Abortion is the freedom to decide on your own future. People are not ALLOWED to say that you and an unborn child deserve the same rights IF that unborn child’s life depends entirely on every single part of your body/life. If that child’s existence can endanger your health/life. If that child can derail your existence and destroy your dreams/freedom. That’s not equal. That argument makes no sense to me.

For anyone that might need to let out a little aggression today… it is national register to VOTE day. I never do this but for anyone who has not registered to vote please take this opportunity to feel HEARD. And not hopeless. I am voting because I WANT to believe in our country. Because I believe in climate change. I believe in systemic racism. I believe in freedom of speech and the right to assemble. I believe in gun control. I believe that women have a right to make choices about their own bodies. I believe people have the right to live and love and identify however they feel in their hearts without fear. I believe that people care about each other. So try and have a lovely Tuesday and vote for your f*****g lives.
In the presidential debate with Hillary Clinton
The justices that I’m going to point will be pro-life. They will have a conservative bent. They will be protecting the Second Amendment. They are great scholars in all cases and they’re people of tremendous respect. They will interpret the Constitution the way the founders wanted it interpreted and I believe that’s very very important.
In an interview with The Guardian
I am a feminist and I am totally pro-choice, but what’s funny is when you say that people assume that you are pro-abortion. I don’t love abortion but I want women to be able to choose and I don’t want white dudes in an office being able to make laws on things like this.
