We must do whatever it takes to eliminate our addiction to fossil fuels. We must be part of the solution, not part of the problem […] No matter how you look at it, we have blood on our hands. Right now, we have all the technology we need to leave fossil fuels in the past. We have a moral obligation to use it.

I absolutely love @Snapple but I just found out that they’re changing their packaging and they’re getting rid of their glass bottles. I’m trying to get rid of single use plastic and move everything to glass/aluminum. So @Snapple is it True, no more glass?

We need serious government backed reform, this isn't about left or right anymore. It's about saving the only home we have. Don't we all want clean air? Clean water? Can't we come together on that?

You know what I’d love lads / lasses ? To go to shop, and for everything not to be wrapped in bastard single use plastic. It’s demoralising. And it’s killing us lads. It’s destroying our oceans #goplasticfree #plasticpollution #plasticfree

It’s amazing the youth have gotten so involved. And they have to stay involved. But that bond [with parents] really matters. Eventually parents will see things have to change. [...] Seeing the ocean polluted... sparked a journey into learning about the environment. I was like ‘wow, this is so groundbreaking.’ I wanted to make an impact. I started learning about the environment, about plastic, about carbon dioxide.
In an article written for Time discussing her feelings on the state of Earth’s oceans and her time spent on a ship with Green Peace.
Our seas are in deep, deep trouble. They house an extraordinarily diverse eco-system of marine life, and are crucial to the well being of land-based ecosystems. And as of this moment, they may as well be the Wild West for corporations and governments to pillage as they please. Deep sea mining, lawless over-fishing, an outpouring of plastic and chemical pollution, shipping noise, disruption of floating seaweed beds, and changing temperatures caused by global warming are just a few of the clear threats to our seas. The high seas make up 61% of the ocean, and 73% of its volume. They matter to our whole planet and our future depends on them.

Some kind of change, some incremental change is going to have to go. How we develop and produce energy in this country at end of the world and how we use land how we approach deforestation. It’s not going to be eliminated but we’ve got to slow it down because if we don’t, there will be no turning back from that point.
At a press conference in Ecuador’s capital city of Quito
This case is fundamentally important to everyone in the world. […] The whole world at some point has to decide whether the law is there to serve the people of the world or whether it’s there to serve the insatiable appetites of the oligarchs and the corporate tyranny under which we all have to survive. […] No oil company has a right to go in and destroy the land, country, or habitat where other people are living without considering their rights.

Unfortunately, we are on a fast track to destroying our oceans and in turn destroying ourselves, every second breath we take is generated from the oceans and without them we die. Everyone needs to play a part. @oceana @parleyxxx

Some friends and I managed to collect NINE bags of trash and a fricken tire in 40 minutes within a 400 foot zone on the beach. What are we doing people?? With so much talk about how our government is handling the future of a clean planet… I’d like to remind you that there are still small contributions YOU can make to be a leader of change. Call your senators, make your voice heard, but don’t stop there! Use the comments to share with us how you plan to help clean up our world. I’ll start: driving an electric car, starting a compost bin, diligently recycling, always choosing organic/local produce and avoiding plastic bottles. Your turn! We got this. And ps: our landscaping is all drought tolerant. I urge those in California to do they same!
When asked if he would run for office.
I don’t know about that. I’ve been making this documentary on climate change for the last two years. If there was anything that I felt that I could do that would really contribute to what I think is the most important issue in human history – climate change – then I would love to take a higher position with it. But that doesn’t necessarily mean political office. I think that a lot of the change needs to come from communal efforts, from groups and people who are trying to rattle the system. I think change is going to have to come from outside. You can’t depend on politicians to make the right decisions.’

This disaster has grown beyond the choices that individuals make. This is now about our industries, and governments, around the world taking decisive, large scale action. Now must be our moment for action.
The Environmental Media Association (EMA) said that Timberlake received the Futures Award, given to people in the entertainment world who use their celebrity to promote positive environmental messages in creative ways. The group says he deserves it for his attempt to reduce his carbon footprint during his tours, his eco-friendly golf course outside Memphis, Tenn., and his advocacy for environmental issues.
Mark Ruffalo founded Water Defense, 501 nonprofit organization. The organization aimed to advocate for safe, clean water practices by performing water quality testing in contaminated areas and providing communities with information and resources to combat water pollution. The organization has been inactive since 2017.
Right now, we have a huge election coming up in the United States, a pivotal point in American history. Obviously, I've been very involved with the environmental moment, and one of the candidates have a better environmental policy in my opinion. That's on a personal note. But for me, the big thing is to get the youth vote out there. I've been doing a lot of work to galvanize and energize the young people out there who really in the last two elections didn't show up in the way they should've. In the last election, over 70% of old people went to volte, and only 40% of registered young people went to vote. So, we need to get a real representation of our country by the people who are going to be affected by the policies the next president puts in effect in the next 50 years. And until we get there, we won't get a real representation of what the country wants.
To highlight the illegal plunder of our oceans by pirate fishing vessels, in a statement for the EJF
Our seas and the people that depend upon them are facing a critical threat. Pirate fishing operations are plundering fish stocks the world over, which in turn undermine all attempts at their sustainable management, already under pressure from widespread misdirection. The devastating impact of this illegal form of fishing is felt not only by our marine ecosystems, but also by the millions of people living in some of the world’s poorest countries who rely on healthy fish stocks as an essential source of both food and employment. Just so you know, this is not a problem without cure, but we have to act now if we are to protect our marine-life’s biodiversity and food security for future generations. It is more important than you, or any of us, can at this moment even begin to understand. That is why I support the work of the Environmental Justice Foundation to raise awareness and provide ‘real-world’ solutions to the issue. Their efforts to engage in effective action to protect both people and planet will help to bring an end to pirate fishing, once and for all
