When are we gonna do something? I’m tired, I’m so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there. I’m so tired of the excuse, I’m tired of the moments of silence. Enough. There’s 50 senators right now who refuse to vote on HR8 which is a background check rule that the house passed a couple years ago, it’s been sitting there for two years and there’s a reason they won’t vote on it: to hold on to power. So I ask you Mitch McConnell, I ask all of you senators who refuse to do anything about the violence in school shootings and supermarket shootings, I ask you: are you going to put your own desire for power ahead of the lives of our children and our elderly and our church-goers? Because that’s what it looks like, it’s what we do every week so I’m fed up. I’ve had enough.

It is on all of us to speak up & snuff out hate based violence. The current climate of animosity toward Asian Americans is idiotic and devastating. Just because a virus originated in a foreign country, we are going to blame people from that part of the world, denigrate them and even kill them??? […] We must support our fellow Asian American countrymen&women, especially during this pandemic. It’s NOT okay to call COVID 19 the ‘Asian Flu,’ like our ignorant ex president did. It’s not okay to fan the flames of racism by blaming others for something they had nothing to do with.

If Trump applied for a job with any company in the US, HR would deny his hiring. 26 sexual assault allegations, 6 bankruptcies, numerous lawsuits, + countless charges of racism going back decades. Yet we have no problem hiring him to be president? Think about that before u vote!

Vote. Vote for the issues that matter most to you. Vote against the man who spreads lies every chance he gets. Vote for the local candidates that’ll best advocate for you.

The truth matters. Authenticity matters. Empathy matters. People matter. Black Lives Matter. This is why the younger generation will change this country for the better. They see through all of the bullshit. Not just Trump’s. Everyone’s.

I want to acknowledge that tonight is LGBTQ night here at Oracle, which is an important night. I want to say first of all that I’m proud to be part of an organization and with a region and area that embraces diversity, and there’s never been a more important time in our country to respect the person next to you regardless of race, creed, color, sexual preference, sexual identity. I’m really encouraged by my kids’ experience here in California growing up, just in terms of acceptance. It seems like the young generation is learning more and more about we all just are who we are and we’re all just individuals and what makes our country great is our diversity. The fact that we can respect each other and work together, embrace each other, I think it’s an important night for us, and we welcome everybody from the LGBTQ community.

As someone whose family member is a victim of terrorism, having lost my father–if we’re trying to combat terrorism by banishing people from coming to this country, we’re recalling going against the principles of what this country is about and creating fear. It’s the wrong way to go about it. If anything, we could be breeding anger and terror, and so I’m completely against what’s happening. I think it’s shocking. I think it’s a horrible idea and I feel for everyone who is affected, families are being torn apart. And I worry in the big picture what this means to the security of the world. It’s going completely opposite. You want to solve terror, you want to solve crime, it’s not the way to do it.
